How do the devices work?
Each device is calculated to cover a volume of airspace and rated for the average ambient air temperature. The tube is filled with FM-200R™ and responds with increases in temperature in order to detect, suppress, extinguish, or even prevent fires from ever starting by activating at early stages of threatening thermal activity.
Where can it be used?
The devices are ideal in mostly enclosed areas at risk of fires classified as A, B or C. Applications include: engine bays, electrical distribution, battery compartments, dashboards, storage bays, hydraulic areas, communications cabinets, etc.
Is the device toxic or damaging if it is activated?
No—FM-200TM is a clean agent gas that is non-toxic and leaves no residue. It is used as a propellant in asthma inhalers, mace and pepper spray. It is used to protect the United States Declaration of Independence.
Does it require a power source (batteries, AC/DC, solar, etc.)?
No—the devices are completely self-contained and require no power. It is heat- activated.
Do the devices require maintenance?
No—it is a maintenance-free system, however regular inspections are recommended.
What is the proper disposal of the devices?
The devices are 100% recyclable and may be returned to the manufacturer for pro-rating credits.
If any devices need to be removed, for maintenance or repair, can it be re- installed?
The devices must be professionally installed and in such a manner that it does not impede the ability to perform maintenance or repairs. The devices may be transferred if/when the reinstallation is to the same/similar location.
